Hey, I'm Benno Third Growth Option podcast host and founder and CEO of Realign, a growth agency I started in 2009. So, in the last 16 years and the last 160 or so episodes of the Third Growth Option podcast, I have heard a lot of questions around growth. Right, people ask where do I start? Why is it so complicated? Is there a process? Is there a better? Is there a framework? Why doesn't somebody make growth easier? You know what's the worst that can happen how do I mitigate risk? How do I find the right team? How do I find the right customer? How do I break cross-functional gridlock and silos? And I want this third season of the Third Growth Option Podcast, which we're going to call the Growth Climbers Toolbox, I want this to be a place for you guys to ask me more questions. Right, I have a bunch of questions that I just rattled off that I have come across. I'll give you, you know, my answers.
Speaker 1:The first answer is stay curious, right, ask better. I always challenge myself to ask better questions and the only way I can ask better questions is if I remain curious. And we have to remain gritty, right, to commit to growth. Growth is obviously about the future, right, and the future is, you know, not precisely predictable. You know there are certain, you know historical trends that we can predict the future a little bit, but then stuff happens right. So stay curious, be gritty and do lean on process and frameworks. And some of the processes that I lean on and we lean on as RealLand Sherpas, as Expansion Sherpas, is this framework of the third growth option. There's organic growth, internal organic growth, there's acquisition, and then there's the third growth option that's faster than internal organic less, there's acquisition, and then there's the third growth option that's faster than internal organic, less risky than acquisition.
Speaker 1:I rely on the one, two, three growth process. I rely on this framework of define, refine scale. If you don't define something first, you're basically doing the old cowboy trick of ready shoot, aim. I believe in ready aim shoot. So I believe in defining something, spending, you know, sort of measure, twice cut once.
Speaker 1:I believe in, you know, embracing healthy tension in teams. I believe in embracing healthy tension in teams. I believe in radical candor. I believe in visibility, transparency and visibility.
Speaker 1:And then there's a whole bunch of sort of functional processes that we've got to get our arms around if we want to grow the business. Grow through new adjacent product categories through accessing other channels of distribution. We've got to know about product management and channel management and branding and digital marketing and design and financial planning and strategic planning and and actually, uh, it's strategy and then planning that strategy for execution, right? So yeah, I lean on all those processes, believe in the importance of those, but remain curious, ask questions, ask customer, ask your team members, ask your. You know, frankly, sometimes the guys or gals at the loading dock might have answers that people around the so remain curious, stay gritty and please let me know what you know.
